Amazon Join Forces With Twitter To Offer New Online Shopping Experience

It’s not just Magento designers who’ve been busy of late, after the latest news from the eCommerce/social media world revealed that Amazon has confirmed a collaboration with Twitter in a move that will see users able to add products to a shopping cart by using the new #amazonbasket hashtag.

It’s not quite as easy as just using the hashtag, but it’s not far off! All users need to do is sync both accounts (Amazon and Twitter) and then head to Amazon to complete the purchase. But given that it’s in its first stages, things could become more ‘slick’ if things go well for the collaboration.

Twitter has made moves to try and reign in some of their losses, which equated to a net loss of £78m for the first quarter, even though the platform has registered a rise in the number of active users, to 320 million so far in 2016.

This new partnership only goes to highlight yet another signifier that social media is progressively being monetised by big firms, which is something that might be of interest with some other businesses and social media channels who we could see joining forces in the future.
