Have you ever considered using the click and collect services for your business? The gist of the service sees a consumer buying items online and opting to collect their new purchase from a store for their convenience, and recently it has appeared that this option is rather popular among people of the UK.
It has been revealed that both Sports Direct and Halfords have reported spikes in their online sales, which are being attributed to the introduction of their click and collect service.
Halfords, who brought in the click and collect option in 2012, has reported an 8.2 per cent growth in online sales, adding that 91 per cent of items ordered online is now picked up from in-store. That’s a staggering increase of 86 per cent in the final quarter of 2014.
Sports Direct also declared a hike with reports that its online sales are up to 14.4 per cent year-on-year and points this success towards the launch of its click and collect service earlier in 2015. The service, even now, accounts for over 20 per cent of all its online orders in the UK.
Interestingly, both of the above retailers implement a charge for click and collect, and yet this hasn’t appeared to have produced a barrier for consumers. Halfords charges £4.99 for its click and collect service, but then provides customers with a £5 voucher to spend in-store. Sports Direct also charges £4.99 for the service but unlike Halfords, does not compensate customers for the fee.
