International eCommerce An Alluring Option For Global Consumers

New studies have outlined that two-thirds of consumers in locations across the globe now opt to regularly do their eCommerce purchases through safe shopping online via retailers who are based in a different country to the buyer.

An overwhelming 94% of those involved in the research stated that they’d taken advantage of services on the internet in order to acquire a minimum of one purchase in the last 12 months. The majority of those who made up the 94% also admitted they look to make the most of the overseas eCommerce activities as a way of sourcing the best deal for a product, a prospect that should be appealing to eCommerce website UK owners.

There have been varying levels of international online retail habits depending on the country, with consumers in Singapore identified as the most likely to have used an overseas site to make a purchase in 2016.

Singapore was closely followed by Australia in the survey, with 86% of consumers using safe shopping online to order products from digital commerce companies situated in foreign countries.

50% of the survey population claimed they tend to make the majority of their purchases through eCommerce sites that act as marketplaces through which a variety of companies offer their wares. The other 50% said they head to specific retail sites operated by individual firms, which highlights a clear split in trends.

As far as UK consumers are concerned, choosing to use overseas eCommerce is still a minority-based activity. The reason for this is predominantly down to the domestic market being at such a competitive and vibrant level, meaning the desire to source products from overseas is vastly reduced.
