Recent news has revealed that eCommerce retail sales in the UK are forecasted to top £60 billion in 2015, thanks to a boost from a strengthening economy and impressive growth in mCommerce.

Based on a global perspective, the UK is set to remain the leader of the world when it comes to share of retail eCommerce’s total retail sales, seeing an increase from 14.5% in 2015 up to 19.3% in 2019.

Here in the UK, we have long been known for the title of eCommerce trailblazers, and that governance at the forefront will continue as digital shopping and buying behaviours continue to make the shift to mobile devices, at a rapid rate, too! Retail mCommerce is projected to grow by a huge 37.5% in 2015, which offers a rate that is in excess of double that for retail eCommerce sales as a whole. As a result, mobile’s share of UK digital commerce will leap to 33.3% this year.

It’s also worth noting that retail sales through mobile devices are now set to outgrow their expectations for the second year in succession.

Subsequently, there has been a 70.8% year-over-year growth in 2014, which is quite remarkable – the UK retail mCommerce sector sales will realise a further 33.3% rise in 2015, taking it to £20.09 billion and accounting for a third of total retail eCommerce sales in the region. It’s also been estimated that come 2019, retail mCommerce sales will be approaching the £40 billion mark, demonstrating 43.7% of total retail eCommerce.
