Younger Generation Driving On The UK mCommerce Sector, Report Shows

Mobile shopping is seriously big business now, and recent 2016 research advocates that it’s the younger generation that is driving the sector.

Bronto Software and Censuswide, two commerce marketing automation providers, found that overall, almost 60% of internet users do their buying via the use of a laptop, making it the most popular device for purchases digitally.

In addition to the data on devices used, the research revealed some clear variations by age and gender. It is the youngest users who were surveyed that were as likely to buy on smartphones as they were on laptops, but as the ages of the people surveyed increased, purchases through smartphones plummeted. With buying through tablets, 25 to 34-year-olds were the most likely group to do so, with 38.6%. As you might expect with the older generation, desktop buying was most popular with these users.

Experts also projected that nearly 74% of UK internet users of all ages possessed a smartphone by the end of last year, and 55% of those across the board made a minimum of one purchase via smartphone between January 1st and December 31st, 2015. At the same time, 63.3% of internet users had access to a tablet they used on a regular basis, and two-thirds of that group made a purchase via tablet over the course of the calendar year.

The main point to take away with this latest research and data news is that you should be making sure that your eCommerce website is ready for users to engage with to make the purchasing process and browsing experience as smooth as possible.
