If you didn’t make it to London for the MagentoLive 2017 conference, you’ll probably be wondering what happened. Fear not, we’re here to give you a quick summary of the things you missed.

The first thing to say is that if you glossed over this year’s event thinking you’d catch it in the UK or France next year, sadly, that won’t be happening. However, in 2018, MagentoLive Europe will be taking place in Barcelona, so you can head to Spain and catch it all there.

Next, a note about re-branding. If you’re used to Magento Enterprise Edition, it’s time to get used to a different name for the same product. It’s now called Magento Commerce, which rolls off the tongue nice and easily. Similarly, Magento Community Edition is now renamed Magento Open Source.

Again, it does what it says on the label. Finally, Magento Commerce Order Management, which was never a phrase you were going to find yourself saying in normal conversation, is now just Magento Order Management. Much simpler.

At MagentoLive 2017, a few online retailers shared big success stories, in fields like clothing and even cycling, to demonstrate how Magento is flexible and powerful platform for selling online.

We all know that eCommerce customers love to shop on the go these days, and that’s why we’re pleased to say at the conference it was announced that Progressive Web Apps (or PWAs) are about to be supported by Magento. It’s more of an intuitive way to engage with the software, which means it’s more likely to be a place people want to shop.

And, as if you needed to hear it again, there was a strong reminder of why its best to get your shipping details in order with Magento Shipping. Listen. 4 out of 5 abandoned carts are due to shipping-related issues. That’s 80%. Shipping needs to take only a day or two, or the vast majority of customers will consider you to be too slow. You can’t afford to take the risk with your sales.

So, there you go. Next stop, MagentoLive 2018 in Barcelona, where you can tune up your eCommerce and top up your tan at the same time.
