Performance marketing technology company, Criteo, have recently reinforced the facts behind the power of mCommerce in eCommerce sales, following a new study.
The company revealed that 48.9% of all UK eCommerce transactions are now occurring through mobile devices, realising a hike of 6% year-on-year.
Mobile commerce is driving and consistently shifting the UK’s eCommerce retail environment, and it’s not just the most recent data from Criteo that confirms this. A new Ovum report, The Future of eCommerce: The Road to 2026 exploring the journey towards mobile-centric retail and the steps UK businesses should be taking today to maximise success, has also been released alongside the aforementioned study, to further cite the facts.
There were some interesting statistics to come from Criteo’s new UK mCommerce results in Q1, thanks to data from 1.4 billion online transactions. Firstly, it was reported that iPhones have now advanced ahead of iPads as the main device for mCommerce in the UK. Additionally, 19% of all UK eCommerce transactions now occur through iPhones, an increase of 7% the year proceeding the launch of Apple Pay.
Furthermore, 39% of transactions in the UK eCommerce sector now comprises of multiple devices in the path leading to a purchase.
It was seen that apps are a mainstay in terms of the driving force pushing mCommerce on, creating 65% of transactions on mobile devices globally, with 35% occurring on the mobile web.
