In case you hadn’t noticed from our almost daily blog stories reporting the runaway growth of eCommerce here in the UK, we are experiencing some significant escalation in this sector, and things are looking very promising indeed! This does, however, raise the question of logistics. A new report has hinted that warehouse space in the UK is essentially just not growing quick enough to keep up and meet the demand required.
Property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) recently revealed the research study that cites even if existing rates of warehouse construction are sustained, in four years when we come to 2020 the mandate for industrial space will surpass supply by 270 sq. ft.
There’s a high level of dependency from brands such as Amazon and Tesco in terms of warehouses for storage in anticipation of orders and for speedy delivery. LSH’s study went on to add that, a “significant and unprecedented increase” in the construction of warehouse space is essential to safeguard the continuation of the growing eCommerce sector.
For now, though, we can all benefit from the increases across the board in terms of eCommerce trading, and there’s no better time to have a business running through a reliable platform such as a Magento website hosting that will assist in the slick process for consumers using online services.
